The lower Manaslu overland journey is a culturally rich, serene landscape, supporting communities, and experiences authentic local life. The trip leads you through the historic 16th century hilltop Gorkha palace, an ancestral home of the Shah kings and where the Prithivi Narayan Shah launched his campaigns to form modern Nepal.

Afterwards we drive further to rural village at the foot of Mt. Manaslu where you will have authentic village experiences. The host family will show farmland, observe traditional style of farming tools, learn how to grown traditional ways of organic crops, and learn how to cook Nepali style of Dal Bhat. During the journey will have the wonderful view of Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Boudha Himal and other peaks. Barpak is one of the biggest Gurung village in Gorkha district and it was an epicentre of 2015 earthquake. Will explore the village, interact with locals, visit local markets, and see the resilient of the village.

Likewise, will explore the small hilltop of Sirandanda and Ligligkot too – these viewpoints offer the views of surrounding areas. Bandipur is a small town where you will see the well-preserved traditional Newari architecture, stone-paved street, Newari culture and the mountain views. It is the short, easy and less crowed areas where you will have an authentic rural life experience.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01

Drive Kathmandu to rural village via Gorkha Bazzar 1,522M

Highlights of the day: Drive through Nepali highway along the Trishuli river, from Abukhaireni ascend hilly roads leading up to Gorkha. You’ll see the hillside settlements before arriving at historic Gorkha Bazzar, home for the famous Gorkha Durbar (Palace) and gateway to Manaslu region treks. Tour of Gorkha bazar, Palace on the way and stay over in a village with a host family.

Day 02

Exploring and Authentic experiences at the rural village 950M

Highlights of the day: Visit farmlands, learn different types of crops, experience the traditional ways of farming, interact with the local people, pick up fresh organic vegetables from garden and learn how to cook Nepali style of Dal Bhat and Tarkari.

Drive rural village to Barpak village 2,000M

Highlights of the day: Farewell with the host family, visit of Ramtel park, Takukot and drive further to Barpak village. Visit the site of the 2015 Earthquake (Memorial center), explore how the village has rebuilt after earthquake, interact with locals and enjoy the view of Mt. Boudha Himal.

Drive Sirandanda to Bandipur 1,030M via Ligligkot 1,437M

Highlights of the day: Scenic Road journey through different villages and will reach to Ligligkot. It has historical significance where the unification of Nepal began, forming the foundation of modern Nepal. In the evening will reach to Bandipur, a charming, well preserved traditional Newari architecture small hilltop town. This place also offers the magnificent view of Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Manaslu ranges.

1) Head Wear
